Counts follow each department's size and what it publishes (some feeds are 911 calls, which are far more numerous than crime reports), so they compare a city with itself over time better than with other cities.

Where the data comes from#
Every report comes from a police department's own public dataset; each city page names the agency and links to it, and the full list with licenses is on our data sources page. Locations are approximate (usually the block), reports are preliminary and can change, and a 911 call is a dispatch, not a confirmed crime.
Questions#
Is there a live crime map near me?
If you live in one of the cities above, its page shows the latest police reports, refreshed every few hours. The Warden app maps them around any address you save.
What is the difference between a crime report and a 911 call?
A crime report is an incident police recorded, usually after the fact. A 911 call (call for service) is a dispatch as it happens: many turn out to be minor or unfounded, so they show what police are responding to, not what was proven.
Why is my city missing?
Only departments that publish incident-level open data can be shown. We add new cities as portals open; tell us which one you want at contact@wardenmap.com.
