About this data#
- Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia (crime reports) via opendata.dc.gov, CC BY 4.0.
Reports are the agency's preliminary records and can change or be withdrawn. Locations are approximate, usually the block. Counts cover what DC MPD publishes, which is not every incident police handle. Figures last computed Nov 2, 9:35 AM ET. All agencies: data sources.
Questions#
How often is the Washington crime map updated?
Warden checks DC MPD's open-data feed every few hours and recomputes this page at least hourly. How fresh the newest report is depends on how quickly the department publishes: some post within hours, others in weekly batches.
How can I see crime on my street in Washington?
The Warden app maps every published report around the addresses you save, filters them by type and time, and shows registered sex offenders on the same map.
Does this show every crime?
No. It shows what DC MPD publishes as open data. Some offense types are withheld for privacy, and unreported crime is not in any dataset.
