Privacy policy

Warden is a map of public US sex offender registry records. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what we do not do.
What we collect
Depending on how you use Warden, we may collect information needed for a functional purpose, such as recognizing your device so the app can work as intended.
Location
If you allow location access, we use it to center the map on you and show nearby public records. We do not track you in the background, and we do not follow you from place to place.
You can deny or turn off location in your phone or browser settings. Warden still works if you search an address or ZIP instead.
How we use this information
- Run the app, the website, and the map.
- Remember your device and your subscription.
- Confirm an email and restore a purchase.
- Show records near an address you care about.
- Keep the service reliable and prevent abuse.
Public records
Information on the map comes from public registries. That data is publicly published by the government, not something those people (or you) submitted to Warden. We display it as those sources publish it. We do not alter or change the information.
Who we share it with
We use service providers that help us operate Warden, such as for hosting, maps, payments, email, and analytics. They only receive what they need to perform that work.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or if we need to protect Warden or other people from harm.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your watch area or email to advertise other products to you.
- We do not continuously track your location.
How long we keep it
We keep account, device, and subscription records while you use Warden, and for a reasonable time after if we need them for billing, security, or legal reasons. You can ask us to delete what we hold.
Your choices
- Skip location and search by address or ZIP instead.
- Skip email. You can add it later if you want to restore a purchase.
- Email contact@wardenmap.com to ask for a copy of your data, or to ask us to delete it.
If you are in a place with extra privacy rights (for example California), those same requests cover access and deletion. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is material, we will say so more clearly in the product when we can.
